After completing his Post Doctoral Degree (M.Ch.) in Plastic Surgery in 1978 from Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur, Dr. Ashok Gupta proceeded to United Kingdom and thereafter to Japan and USA for Specialized Training in Reconstructive Microsurgery at few of the best known Centers of Learning.
Dr. Ashok Gupta started his stride in to charity work for the down trodden and underprivileged at very early days as a medical student way back in 1970 onwards at the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur.

Volunteered as Camp Leader at the High Altitude Training session for Students at the Himalayan Trekking Program from 1969 to 1971 and helped a number of sick trekkers / climbers.

Offered Free Footwear and Clothing to about 200 Leprosy affected inmates of Leprosy Home on 2nd October, the Gandhi Jayanti Day in 1971. He collected single handedly all these through door-to-door visits to friends and people, washed and repaired himself. |

Participated as the member of the Medical Relief Team for the drought relief work in backward areas of Western Maharashtra and undertook vaccination and other medical relief to over 1000 people for 3 months in 1971. |

Since 1982, on successfully completing the Specialized Training in United Kingdom, started to give back the advantage of his acquired professional skills and knowledge to under-privileged people in the remote / tribal belt of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Khandesh, other parts of Maharashtra. |

During these 25 years, he has been performing over 5000 Free Reconstructive Plastic Surgical procedures on underprivileged children at remote and tribal areas of different States like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Hariyana and other parts of the Country. |

Since his tenure as Trainee in Plastic Surgery and thereafter as Post-graduate Teacher at Government run Medical Colleges at Nagpur and Mumbai, Dr. Ashok Gupta performed a number of very complex life saving reconstructive surgery procedures on people at large and made India proud at a number of International scientific forums. |

He has been awarded the coveted honors of FRCS by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and “D. Sc.” (Hon.) by an International University. |
